That snap shot was taken from behind the snow man right through my window. I didn’t want to go back outside. I had been outside enough today and it is still snowing. It started snowing last night, it was snowing when I woke up this morning, and it’s still snowing. We’ve already had cancellations for tomorrow.
There are so many things about Nebraska that I absolutely adore and Snow is one of them. Call me crazy but I just Love snow. Snow brings out all the shoveling, hot cocoa, snuggling with a movie, and I don’t know about you but snow in December makes it feel a lot more like Christmas.
I Love that I don’t have to go anywhere and that we have everything we need. As long as the power doesn’t go out (knock-on-wood) we are good to go.
The hand-me-down snow blower does not work. I don’t think it ever did work. I think it worked one time and that was it. I tried the key start, nothing. I tried adding fuel to it, nothing. I tried revving it up with the cord, nothing. But that’s ok, I don’t mind working out with the shovel. I must be doing a pretty good job at the gym because I am not even sore.
It’s a good thing I shoveled today because now it’s almost half past 6:00 o’clock in the evening and it’s as if I never shoveled. Could you imagine how high the snow would be had I not gone outside to shovel when I did?
It was cold outside but it wasn’t a cold that you couldn’t stand. It was the kind of cold you could stay in all day if you were bundled up correctly. I would have loved to take pictures of the girls out there today except that it was snowing and I didn’t want to ruin my camera. I want to wait until the snow stops, we are outside, and then I will try and take pictures.
Let’s see … Fiona was outside for a good 10 minutes before she had decided she had enough. Kinsley … she stayed out there with me the whole time. Flushed cheeks, jumping into everything I had thrown into piles with my shovel. I think she thought they were leaves. We had a snow ball fight and at the end when I finished shoveling we did snow angels.
Back inside the house we hot showers with Christmas Carols. We sang every Christmas song we could think of. After, we picked out the coziest winter PJ’s we could find. We had hot soup and warm sandwiches and when we finished with that we piled into my bed to watch A Christmas Story starring Peter Billingsley. I Love that movie. Kinsley sat through the entire movie with me. Fiona got bored about halfway through and made her way down stairs to watch something else.
After the movie I noticed everything was closed for tomorrow. I’m glad. I don’t mind. It’s nice not to have to go anywhere. It’s especially nice that I am a SAHM and I don’t have to worry about whose going to watch my kids. I don’t have to attempt any crazy drives to and from work. I get to hang out and enjoy the snow, snow angels, snow ball fights, and snuggling with a not-so-boring Christmas Movie. I will not complain about the shoveling. Do you know how many calories you can burn shoveling? A LOT!
