Yesterday was a special day for everyone. Kinsley got to hang out with Grandma. Don and I got to hang out with Fiona. We did our back to school shopping with Fiona and boy was she excited.
Normally she would have to ride in the cart if her sister Kinsley was along but on this day she got to walk with the rest of us. We started our shopping journey at Kohl’s. Kohl’s always has a sale going on. We found so many cute things for Fiona that I broke down and allowed myself to sign up for a Kohl’s charge. When you do that they give you an additional % off at the register. I’m actually kind of excited that I have a Kohl’s charge now because we do quite a bit of shopping at the Kohl’s located by our house. The only thing I wasn’t too thrilled about was the 21.9% fixed annual percentage rate for purchases. Are they smoking crack!? It’s a good thing I don’t keep balances on my credit cards.
Our next stop was Old Navy. Old Navy is insanely cheap and they had all sorts of marked down insanity going on. Kids blue jeans were $10.00 and you could find T-shirts for $5.00. I don’t really have too much to say except that they have some super cute stuff coming out for the fall season.
After Old Navy we hit up the Famous Footwear store next door. They had buy one get one 1/2 off. So we did — we bought two pairs of very cool tennis shoes that Fiona was happy to pick and then we headed for the mall.
I don’t know what it is about the Mall but Fiona just Loves it. We don’t really do a whole lot of buying at the mall because the prices are so jacked up right now. But sometimes — when you really have time to dig through the stores — sometimes you can find good deals. The only place we did make a purchase was at the Borders Express on the 2nd level. Don found some science fiction novels and I found some children’s books on sale for $2.99 each. The only children’s book we didn’t buy on sale was Goldilicious but that’s only because we already had Pinkalicious and Purplicious. We just had to have that one even though it wasn’t on sale.
Children’s books we found on sale for $2.99 were: One Winter’s Day, Spooky Hour, The Adventures of Isabel, How many SHARKS in the Bath?, and I Love It When You Smile. Some of those stories had CDs too. What a great deal for only $2.99 — don’t you think?
Last but not least — we hit Walmart. Do you want to know what I love about Walmart? Walmart has $4.00 prescriptions without disrupting the rest of the nations prescription plan. Why can’t Congress figure out how to fix the part of our healthcare system that is broken and leave the rest alone? Why can’t they take notes from Walmart and leave businesses to run themselves?
Ok — well — that’s not the only thing I love about Walmart. I like the fact that your dollar stretches so much further than other stores like Target OR K-Mart. There isn’t a single thing that I can’t think of that can’t be found at Walmart for a reasonable price. Even the Walmart brand diapers are affordable. They are also really pretty good.
I don’t know why I even mentioned the diapers from Walmart. I am so glad to be over and through with Diapers. It’s so nice to have kids that aren’t in those any more.
We found all of Fiona’s school supplies. What’s funny was that we didn’t really have a school supplies list to look at. The school for the most part provides all of the school supplies for the children. Oh sure there were things that you could “donate” if you wanted to like hand soap, facial tissues, and glue but they pretty much had everything set up for the kids.
What we wound up doing is going ahead and purchasing two of everything the school provides. Everything accept for the nap mat. We did purchase a nap mat. We went with a Yoga Mat instead. Then there was the book bag, crayons, folders, pencils, glue sticks, and pencil boxes. I made sure to get Kinsley a set because I’m sure we will be busy doing stuff at home together when Fiona’s at school.
Tomorrow is the big day. I can’t believe this day is almost here. Fiona’s first day of Kindergarten. Of course I will be taking lots of pictures. Don is so excited he’s offered to pick up Sonic Breakfast Burritos to help ring in this special day.
Well — that’s all that I have for now. I have so many things to blog but not enough time to do it all in. I will come back and let you know how Fiona’s first day of school went. I should probably go to bed and try and get a good night’s rest so we are ALL bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning.

We still haven’t gone to do our shopping & I know we’ll be hitting Walmart! I always say that I’ll get the supplies & shopping done the month before & we always end up doing it last minute. Thank goodness Walmart always has everything we need.
Is Fiona going all day? The twins are half day. I’ll be watching out for Fiona’s first day of school blog(:

Yes, Fiona will be in Kindergarten all day. School starts at 8:55 am and gets done at 3:45 pm. I’ll probably post her first day of school blog later. I want to hear what she has to say about her first day so that I can share it with you guys. I did already post the pictures on Flickr.
