Fiona’s 1st Day of Kindergarten

Fiona’s first day of Kindergarten was a complete success. Because it’s been such a long day – AND I’m pooped at the moment – I’ve decided it would be a good idea to take you through Fiona’s first day by adding some sort of description on the pictures that I took. I took a lot of pictures and they are in chronological order. You’ll know which ones they are because the first day of school pictures are towards the end of this section.

When Don, Kinsley and I dropped Fiona off today I found myself going back to the door and standing in the doorway. I figured the other parents were still in the middle of the room – I could just hang back a bit longer and see what my zoom lense could capture. Then it hit me hard – a big old wave of emotion crept right into me and I knew I had to let her go and step outside. Yep, I got teary-eyed. But please go through the pictures because after I send this post off to the blog I will head on over and add a little bit of detail so you will know what I was thinking after I saw the pictures that I had taken and remembered the details of the day.

One of the things that Don and I talked about was the day that I went into labor. That’s when I started to cry today – thinking back to that day. We had driven to the doctor only to have the doctor tell us to get to the hospital. Fiona just could not wait to meet us. She broke my water and labor had begun. We had discussed middle names in the truck before getting to the hospital. Don wanted her middle name to be after his aunt too. (Since I had already made up my mind that my aunt was going into her name) Now you guys know why her name is super long: Fiona Barbara Eleni – Barbara after his Aunt Barb and Eleni after my Aunt Eleni.

It was a long day. I think you will get a kick out of the pictures. Have fun w/it but be patient if you are checking them out tonight because I haven’t added the descriptions yet. If you are looking at this post after the 17th then you’re good to go.

    Thanks Jennifer.

For the 2nd day of school we walked to the door where the kindergartners enter in on. Fiona stood in line and we waited for the bell to ring.

She walked into the school by herself and straight to her classroom. I said to Kinsley, “Let’s go peek in on her to make sure she found her cubby for her back pack and jacket.”

So we walked to the door and peeked in on her. She didn’t see us. She found her cubby, put her back pack and jacket away and went to her desk. We left.

It’s so nice to see her excited for school.
