Let the Groundings Begin

Yesterday Fiona said, “I think I need to take my Nintendo DS to show n’ tell.”

We told her that wasn’t a good choice. LOL : )

Pretty Funny Right?

Fast Forward to this afternoon…

Me: How was show n’ tell today?
Fiona: It was Great Mom!
Me: Did everyone love Spike?
Fiona: Oh yes and all the kids want a Nintendo DS like me Mom!

OOPS!?

On the way home…

Me: I’m sorry Fiona but I’m going to have to ground you.
Fiona: But Mom I’m only six years old!!!
Me: That’s exactly why you need to be grounded.

Back at the house I draw up the contract and write everything out on a piece of paper. You know, it has to look and feel official with signatures and everything.

Fiona is grounded for TWO days for taking her Nintendo DS to school. Fiona broke a school rule AND made a poor choice to go against her parents.

1.) No TV for 2 Days
2.) Bed Time will be early for 2 Days
3.) No Nintendo DS for 14 days

We talked about what she did and why she was being grounded. She signed the document, I signed the document and the tears began to flow.

Of course Kinsley had to pop herself into the situation and ask her sister if she wanted to watch TV with her at which point I chime in, “No Kinsley your sister may not watch TV with you because she is grounded.”

Kinsley says, “Oh I forgot Mom.”

Talk about rubbing it in!!!

I suppose even at age 6 you have to check their back packs before they go off to school and again as soon as they come home.

I wonder how the next two days will go?

When grounding your child after they have had a chance to think everything over and get all the tears out… make sure you hug them and tell them how much you love them.

After all… they are just kids… right?

I am new to your blog and I love that you write a contract with your 6 year old. I should try this with my 8 year old. This is a great idea!!
