She sat, and sat, and sat…

By George I think she’s on the road to be fully and completely potty trained! FINALLY!

My SIL told me day before yesterday that she read an article in the paper about how if toddlers reach a certain point they wind up not caring if they walk around in a dirty diaper all day. They actually get used to it. So yesterday I made up my mind that Miss Kinsley was going to be potty trained before she turned three. I’ll admit, the thought that my two year old nephew was starting to get it was motivation too.

So yesterday when Kinsley woke up I filled her up on liquids and put her in big girl panties. I tried to get her to pee in the pot and she would not. So instead of letting her run around the house all day I made her sit on that pot. I told her she was not allowed to get up until she went pee. She was not happy with me as you can see!

So I set her up right here next to me on the floor by my desk. She sat, and sat, and sat all day. I gave her water and she sat some more. I gave her MORE water and she kept sitting. She tried to get up a couple of times but I caught her in time and sat her back down so she could sit some more. She cried and she whined and complained. It got to the point where she tired herself out and requested her Mama’s blanket. So I gave it to her and she sat some more.

I told her she could not get up until she went pee in the pot. She asked if she could have some gum and I told her not until she went pee in the pot. Here we are around 5:00 PM and she still has not pottied in the pot all day. She’s a stubborn little thing. At 7 PM that would make almost 12 hours of not releasing herself.

FINALLY she PEED!

I screamed and I yelled and I clapped and made this HUGE deal about how she went pee in the pot. I did the PEE PEE DANCE and she giggled and laughed about that. She said, “Mommy – can I have some gum now?” I was stunned. That’s all she wanted was that piece of gum. So I gave it to her and told her how proud I was of her and that next time she could put her poop in the pot too. She was excited.

Last night she peed again and before she went to bed she filled the big pot up full of poop. I think she was probably backed up from holding it all day. This morning she peed in the pot twice and she went to the pot by herself to put poop in it. She’s been wearing big girl panties all morning and going all by herself to the pot.

I’m so excited for her, for us and the thought of being done with diapers for good is an AWESOME feeling.

I am so glad! I know that you are more so! =)

I know that was a long day, but it sure did pay off. Give little Miss Kinsley a big hug from her Aunt Heather. Tell her that I am so happy for her!

    Love you,
    Heather

She seems to be doing pretty good so far! Of course we put a pull up on her at night when she goes to bed. I think once we run out of pull ups and diapers we will probably send her to bed with panties too. I have one of those water proof liners she sleeps on top of.

Today I had to pick Ree up from school and take her to see the doctor. She felt like she was going to vomit and she had a horrible migraine. So I had to round up the girls and off we went. It was Kinsley’s first trip away from the house with no pull up and no diaper. She only wore panties under her clothes. It’s been interesting to watch her try and figure out when she has to go potty.

How is Lauren doing? I hope that she is okay. How did Kinsley do? Did she make it?

Oh christ we’re up to potty training and I’m so freaking scared! We have the potty and the toilet seat attachment, but this is a daunting task.

    Congrats on the peepee!
