Sleepover at Budja’s

We had the best 4th of July week. It all started with some girly fun. Fiona and Kinsley had their cousin Cecilia over for a girls sleepover.

We picked up one of those kid pools for the back porch and they had a blast ALL afternoon. Who knew that having their cousin over for a couple of days would keep them interested in the outdoors. They literally played all afternoon back there with the sprinkler, the little pool, the play set. They had a blast!

Later on the girls played Tea Party with their little tea cups and lots of dress up. They are divinely sophisticated wouldn’t you say?!

Don took some time off from work and the next day we decided to take the kids to the Zoo. We love the zoo so much that we have a family pass and try to go as much as we can. The weather was beautiful. It was around the lower 80′s. Not too hot and not too cool. It was just right and we had so much fun.

The Henry Doorly Zoo has this new Skyfari ride so this was the first time Don road it with the girls. Originally it was supposed to be Don with Cecilia and Fiona. Me and Kinsley were going to skip the ride and walk to the other side. Fiona backed out at the last minute unsure of it all. She’s the analytical child always having to think things through first. We agreed to let Kinsley go in her place. Boy as soon as she realized Kinsley was going to get on the ride she changed her mind and started crying/screaming to get on. By that time it was too late and Don was off with the girls up up and away. That’s ok, this gave me a chance to walk around the zoo just me and Fiona and talk about the ride and how her and I would go on it together the next time we came to the zoo.

BTW, I’m Budja. It’s what my niece and nephews have called me ever since they started talking as babies. What’s neat is that side of the family has nicknames for all the aunts. My kids call their Aunt Kim “Mama Kim.” I think her nickname is my favorite. I was telling Kim just the other day she could have a license plate made that says “Mama Kim.”
